Gray- Maude A. (Jones) Cook, 94, went to be with her Lord April 1, 2017. She was born Dec.10, 1922 in Trescott, Maine to Carroll and Katrina Jones.  The eldest of three children,  Maude outlived her two brothers, John and Ivan Jones.

 

Maude graduated from Franklin High School, Franklin, NH and received her nursing degree from Laconia General Hospital, Laconia, NH.

 

Maude married Anthony J. Cook in 1944. Tony died November 2000 and Maude never stopped missing him. Her son, Anthony J. Cook Jr., lives in Berlin, Germany, but visited yearly. Maude leaves five grandchildren: Anthony, Christopher, Jessica, Hannah and Marla. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She and her niece, Kathy, were especially close.

 

Maude worked in local hospitals as a Registered Nurse and also did private duty nursing. With the birth of her first grandchildren she retired from nursing and spent a few years caring for the first two. Maude enjoyed gardening and yard work. She was an amazing knitter, and made lots of sweaters for family and hundreds of mittens for family and for charities. Nobody could beat her chocolate walnut and peanut butter fudge, and cream cheese balls. She took up golf at age 66 and played several years with Tony and enjoyed it tremendously. She and Tony were members of the Bible Believing Baptist Church in Gray.

 

The family would like to give a huge thank you for everyone at the Ledgewood Manor Nursing Home in Windham, Maine. Maude not only got excellent care there, but lots of love for her last years. Also, we'd like to thank Terry, Pete, and Alice for the friendship and help you gave Maude during her years at Appletree in Gray, Maine. You are so special.

 

Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray. A funeral will immediately follow at 7:00 PM. Pastor Darwin Vail will officiate the ceremony.  Committal services will be private. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
