Carolyn Jean LaMontagne, 89, of Gray, Maine, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 24, 1937, in Portland, Maine.
Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from the family she loved so deeply. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love created a home where everyone felt welcome, and the memories she leaves behind will be treasured for generations.
She worked for many years in the textile industry and later at the Stone Cafe, where she was known for her friendly smile, strong work ethic, and genuine kindness to everyone she met
Carolyn is survived by her children, Terry Jines (Bill), Linda Jensen (Dana), Brenda Minott, William LaMontagne (Barbara Trott). She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William LaMontagne; her cherished daughter, Roberta King; and her grandson, Keith Jines. Though their absence was deeply felt, Carolyn carried their love in her heart every day.
A true animal lover, Carolyn shared a special bond with her beloved cat, Midnight, whose companionship brought her comfort and happiness. She found joy in life's simple moments-time spent with family, sharing stories, and celebrating the milestones of those she loved.
Carolyn will be remembered for her gentle heart, quiet strength, generous spirit, and unconditional love. Her legacy lives on through her family, whose lives were forever enriched by her guidance, compassion, and example. While she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will continue to inspire all who knew her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Carolyn's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
