Always in our hearts

Catherine May became our guardian angel on March 19 2022. She had many family members by her side in her final days. Born December 18 1934 she was raised in Gray new Gloucester where she met and married the love of her life James may Jr. they were married 60 years, together they had six children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Catherine worked as a stitcher for Auburn shoe for 20 years. After retiring she had her grandchildren over as often as she could and enjoyed helping take care of the littlest ones. Being a natural caregiver she helped take care of her father before he passed away, and when her husband came down with Alzheimer’s she cared for him until the end. Catherine and James loved to spend their anniversaries at Somerset resort in Rockland. They enjoyed driving through the White Mountains and visiting her sister in Connecticut. Catherine loved country music, dancing, and watching James her husband perform in his band. Catherine enjoyed and was very good at playing Yahtzee and different card games. She liked knitting hats, being in the outdoors, and planning family get together‘s. Making the holidays her favorite time of the year. She loved having the family all together in her home, cooking with her daughters and going on their annual Christmas shopping trip.
