Charles Earl Libby (Charlie) passed away on March 18, 2026, surrounded by his daughters Tammy and Jenny after a long illness. Charles was born on September 30, 1947 to Ernest and Charlotte Libby of South Portland, ME. He was born in Portland Maine and was one of four children. He attended Portland High School and then later joined the U.S. Marines and served in the Vietnam war.

Charlie found a passion for cooking, so he worked at USM in Portland where he could fine tune his cooking skills and became a great chef, later moving onto fine dining restaurants and eventually running his own catering business. Charlie also owned his own business as a nurseryman. This was his main business for many years. When he retired from the nursery business, he became a Maine State Guide and later did many hunting guides, one of which included a NFL football player. He was also at one point a TSA employee at the Portland Jetport.

Charlie loved nature and being outdoors. He loved camping, fishing and hunting. He took many hunting trips, to include British Columbia, Canada, and Wyoming with his brother Bunky, best friend Billy. He also took a big moose hunting trip in 2020 with his grandson Andrew, nephew Peter, best friend Billy, Billy’s son Jacob and his son-in-law Scott. Charlie loved family gatherings and lots of laughter too! He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charlie loved to have lobster cookouts. Charlie had a big heart and was always helping others any way he could by means of food, clothing or just by a friendly conversation.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents Ernest & Charlotte Libby, his sister Sharon Libby of Windham ME, and survived by his significant other, Shirley Libby of Deltona, FL, his brother Ernest (Bunky) Libby of Roque Bluffs, ME, Shirley Merril and (husband Mel) of Windham ME, his daughters, Tammy Small and (husband Scott) of New Gloucester, ME, Jennifer Libby and (significant other Ellis Warren) of Sumner ME, Angela Dalrymple of Waldoboro ME, his grandchildren, Paige Bousquet of Oxford ME, Audri Dighton of Waldoboro, ME, Jessica Brayall of Sumner ME, Lauren Small of Burlington VT, and Andrew Small of New Gloucester ME. Great grandchildren, Haleigh, Teagan and Rylee of Oxford Me and Lance of Waldoboro ME, along with many nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Charlie will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts!♥
