Charles Allen MacLean Obituary
August 12, 1965 - April 18, 2023
Charles Allen MacLean, 57, of New Gloucester, ME, passed away from his battle with esophageal cancer while surrounded by his loved ones on April 18, 2023. Charles MacLean was born on August 12, 1965 to John H. MacLean and Josephine Fenton MacLean. He was raised in Gray, Maine, attended Gray-New Gloucester High School and after, attended Central Maine Community College. He went on to kickstart his 34-year career at Bath Iron Works (BIW) in Bath, Maine. In 1992, Charles met and married his wife Sally Dube MacLean and they were married for 31 years. They had two beautiful daughters, Crystal and Summer.
Charles was an avid fisherman even at a young age. He said he loved being out on quiet waters. He was a big New England Patriots and Red Sox fan. He always found time to play sports with his daughters and attended all their sporting events. Charles MacLean wore many titles: husband, dad, grampy, brother, son, friend, “Chuck,” ”Easel or Poet Man,” as he would like to call himself at times. He definitely was a jokester to the fullest and always wore a smile. One of the greatest titles of all he would view himself as a fisher of men. At the age of 25 Charles became a born-again Christian and led a devoted life to serve Jesus Christ, His Savior, with his whole heart. One of the very last words Charles quoted was “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
For Charles loved ones he wanted to say:
"So once again I, Charlie, would like to thank my wonderful family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers for all your help, support, and willingness to be there for me and my family. I would also like to thank my church family, at Eastgate Christian Fellowship, a wonderful loving body of believers that God placed me into years ago. Thank you all for your prayers, love and blessings through these difficult times!“
Charles was predeceased by his father John MacLean, sister Alice Strout, sister Ann Gile, brother Calvin MacLean and sister In-Law Ruth MacLean. He is survived by his wife Sally MacLean, their two daughters Crystal Karim and husband Ali. Summer Kalinin and her husband Vadim. He loved and cherished his two grandchildren Sophia Karim and Abraham Kalinin. Survived by his mother, Josephine MacLean, sister Linda Brooks and husband Dennis, brother John MacLean and wife Lisa, sister Laurie Lewis and husband Todd, sister Mary Lowe and brother In-Law Darren Gile and several nieces and nephews.
“Jesus won the victory over sickness and over pain,
He won the victory over sin and over shame
and though I suffered in the body with much pain,
I am at peace with God through Christ in Jesus name.”
