Christina Bridget (Colucci) Simpson, 95, passed away on April 17, 2026 leaving behind a legacy
of wisdom and what it means to work hard. She was born on August 13, 1930 in Portland,
Maine and was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Colucci. Christina came from a long line of
relatives who came through Ellis Island by boat from Roccamorice, Provincia di Pescara,
Abruzzo, Italy. Christina was the epitome of what it was like to have full Italian blood. Her
perseverance and spit fire personality was nothing short of amazing. Christina married the love
of her life, Calvin Simpson (U.S. Veteran and Maine State Trooper) when she was 18 and they were
happily married for 62 years before Calvin’s passing in 2012. Christina spent many years in
retail including working at the Salvation Army, Butlers in Biddeford, and Montgomery Ward in
Portland. She later worked at Marden’s in Gray for many years into her late eighties.
Christina and Calvin enjoyed going camping with their family and friends for many years making
memories families could only dream of. Calvin and Christina brought their fifth wheel camper to
every campground we went to, especially Moosehead. She loved a good fire accompanied by
her family and a strong coffee brandy. She enjoyed many laughs and always had a great sense
of humor. From power walks, their old chocolate lab Katie, to finding out quickly that a cheez
wiz can has no places in a fire, there was no shortage of a good time when she was around.
Christina was predeceased by her parents Mary and Joseph Colucci, her husband Calvin W.
Simpson, daughter Carol Ann Jordan, her five siblings, Anthony Colucci, Richard Colucci,
Loretta Burley, Patricia Pardy and Thomas Colucci. She leaves behind her two sons, Calvin
Simpson, Richard Simpson, her daughter in law, Joyce Simpson, and five grandchildren,
Jessica Gellar-Cote, her husband Victor, Jason Thomas, his wife Jen, Bradley Simpson,
Nicholas Simpson, his wife Erica and Andrea Simpson Rairdon and her husband Nicholas. She
also leaves behind eight great grandchildren, Cameron, Parker, Audrey, Amelia, Carter, Ellie,
Maya and Everett. She also leaves behind a wonderful companion in her later years, Larry
Richard, and her great friend and caretaker Patty Sico Carroll.
She will be missed so much by her family and friends and will live on in our memory forever.
