Cliff Andrews Obituary

New Gloucester- Cliff Andrews passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday August 16th at the age of 75. Cliff was the eldest son of Oscar (deceased) and Mary Andrews.

Cliff was a graduate of Oxford Hills High School class of 1965 where he was an active musician and skier. He attended the University of Maine where he graduated with a degree in Economics and spent the first 30 years of his career with Unum.  Not one for sitting still, Cliff opted for a very short stint in retirement before taking on a 10 year role at Planson International in New Gloucester.

During his 46 years in New Gloucester, he was actively involved on the Parks and Recreation, Capital Improvement, Environmental, Cable TV, and Cemetery Committees.  A proud accomplishment was being instrumental in the planning and build of the New Gloucester Recreation Land (now Rowe Complex) complete with new tennis courts and ballfields, supporting his passion for facilitating youth athletic facilities and programs.

His greatest joy in life was raising his daughters, selfless acts of kindness, seeing and spending time with his granddaughters, attending auctions and yard sales, golfing, camping, fishing, and puttering constantly on home improvement projects.

Cliff is survived by his wife Tina with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage in July; his two wonderful daughters Tami Andrews of Rumford, and Sara Spugnardi and husband Mike of Scarborough. He was “Papa” to Libby and Edie Spugnardi with whom he shared so much love and affection. He is also survived by his mother Mary Andrews (South Paris), his sister Jeanie Brown and husband Alvin (Rangeley), brother David Andrews and wife Judy (Sanford), brother Tom and wife Vicky (Casco), Sister-in-law Billie Damon and husband Harold (South Paris), as well as many kind and generous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Clifford at The Inn at Fogg Farm (adjacent to Spring Meadows golf course Gray, ME) on Wednesday August 31, 2022. Doors open at 1PM with an informal ceremony to take place around 2PM.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the New Gloucester Recreation Committee, an organization that Cliff spent many years with coaching his girls’ T-ball and softball teams and supporting youth athletics in New Gloucester. Town of New Gloucester, 385 Intervale Road, New Gloucester Attn: Rec Dept Senior Programs OR Attn: Rec Dept Scholarship Program.
