Colleen St. Cyr Obituary

On Thursday, February 18th, Camie passed away at the age of 65 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Camie was born on August 25, 1955 in Lewiston, Maine to Dale and Patricia (Carll) Maxwell. She graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School and started driving a school bus for the GNG school system shortly after and continued to for 35 years. She drove an additional 6 years for Fiddlehead Center of Arts and Sciences up until 3 weeks before her death. She was a hardworking, devoted, and reliable employee who gave it her all up until the end.

In Camie’s early years, her hard work was recognized not only on the school bus, but at home as a single mom raising 2 children as well. In the mid 80’s, Camie met Arthur St. Cyr and shortly after had her third child. Camie and Art were together for a total of 35 years up until his death in May of last year. Together, they enjoyed their trips to camp in North New Portland, the occasional trips to Bar Harbor, and outdoor summer activities with their grandchildren. Camie was a talented seamstress, taught by her Grammie, Lena Carll as a young adult. All her family members have all her beautiful quilts that she made throughout the years as treasured keepsakes. Camie was a wonderful cook and would never let you leave her house hungry. She enjoyed baking, decorating Christmas cookies with the grandkids, and always made great desserts like cream puffs and whoopie pies. When she was healthy, she loved to garden, play games, knit, and eat out. Camie’s biggest passion of all was her grandchildren. She was always trying to keep up with them dancing, wrestling, cartwheels, and anything else that would make everyone laugh. Additionally, she always looked forward to her morning call from “Lucy.”

Camie was predeceased by her father, Dale, her husband, Art, and her beloved dog, Maggie. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Maxwell, her three sisters: Cynthia Emmertz (Tom), Candace Thompson (Paul), Carla Babb (Bobby), her children: Taunya Brown (Rob), Travis Wing (Lisa), Kayla Merrill (Tony), and grandchildren: Jayden, Julianna, Casey, Kylie, Addyson and Libby, nephews, nieces, stepdaughters, Kim and Shelly, their children, and the entire St. Cyr family.

A special thank you goes to the staff at MaineHealth Cancer Care Center, especially Dr. Tchekmedyian whose sensitivity and compassion were above and beyond. We are forever thankful for you.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7th, 1:00-5:00 at Windham Veteran Center, 35 Veterans Memorial Drive, Windham, ME (behind Hannaford). All are welcome.
