Connie Chabot, age 65, of Freeport Maine, gained her wings on June 17, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.
Connie was born May 18, 1961 daughter of Hughena Grover and Linwood Grover Sr and grew up surrounded by her large family with 6 siblings. Her love for dancing began as a majorette in middle school and continued throughout her life. At any point if the right song came on, she just couldn't resist and would take your hand to join her without any chance of refusing her offer.
She met the love of her life, Randall Allen Vickerson Jr, at the age of 14 and they were married in July of 1977 when she was 16. Connie's adventure as a loving mother began with the arrival of Carlene in August of 1976, Randall in August of 1977, and Jesse in August of 1981. Memories of family road trips, camping in the Allagash, motorcycle rides, roller skating and ice skating were always a highlight when she corrected the details of the recollections told by others. In July of 1992, a corner stone of the family crumbled with the loss of her beloved husband and father of her children, Randy. Her strong family virtue got her through the toughest of times with love and support from every direction in which she would always express gratitude along with the deepest respect for the life long relationships she had with Vickerson family.
Throughout her life, she had a incomparable work ethic. Never without a job and showing true dedication to each and every employer. Connie expressed her younger years as a CNA to be "the most rewarding" job she had ever had and did not hesitate to encourage others to understand what that truly meant. She later jumped on the opportunity, when she was asked by the owner of the Harraseeket Inn, to be involved with the expansion to this now well known establishment. It is without a doubt that her expectation of quality and class helped shape the decision to have her play such a role in this development. She continued many years there as the Housekeeping Director, along with many years in the same role at the Holiday Inn at the Bay, and then later to continued almost two decades in her supervisor role at Falmouth by the Sea nursing home, later known as Prince Point. Connie was always the supervisor to be working along side her co-workers and never "above". Her work ethic continued as her dedication carried her to remain at her job as a current employee even against the advise of her closest loved ones.
Connie was remarried to Romeo Chabot in the late 90's and regained her love for motorcycle rides, scenic Sundays, and of course, another decade of dancing. When the decision to live separate lives came about, her best times always involved her growing family.
Family was always her greatest of strengths. Her home was the place of holiday dinners, birthday parties, BBQ's, and massive easter eggs hunts. There was always a plan or idea for the grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and any of their friends to stay active and smiling. She would demand her tree out front had Christmas lights so that the kids had something to look at outside and started her own tradition of ringing her crystal bells on Christmas eve. She would make a home made slip and slide down the side hill of her house on a hot summer day because pools where "too dangerous". She accepted family beyond family with an unconditional love that matched no other. Without even raising her voice in a moment of chaos, she could subtly brush the moment away with a swipe of her hand as if to say "move on". She knew there were things to enjoy and be grateful and would not tolerate any lunacy at her family gatherings. Connie was mom, nana, sis, auntie, strength, stability, resilience, but most of all, she was home.
