Danielle Bishop Obituary

New Gloucester-Danielle Bishop, 29, passed away on April 27, 2018, due to complications of open heart surgery. Danielle received the gift of life when she had a heart transplant at the age of 14. She was a very courageous and brave young woman to go through everything she had to endure in her life. She will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her and supported her through her short time on this earth.

Growing up, she enjoyed camping with her newfound family when her mother married Gregory Ross in 1997. She took dance classes when she was younger, and tried to find her athletic side with one season of basketball, but the hoop was too high and it gave her a headache. She also tried softball, but the field was too “stinky” so she didn’t want to play. In high school, she found that competition cheerleading was the sport for her.

Danielle graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 2006. She then went onto Kaplan University to receive her Associate’s degree as a Medical Assistant in 2011. She married Justin Bishop September 20, 2008 and enjoyed being a step-mom to his son Sean, and spending time with her dog “Pretty Girl”.

Unfortunately, at the age of 14 she was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, which required her to have a heart transplant. Because of the generosity of the donor’s family and the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff at the Boston Children’s Hospital, we were able to spend 14 more years with Danielle.

Danielle was predeceased by her father Jeffrey Hall, and her grandmother Judy Olds. She is survived by her mother and stepfather Tracey and Greg Ross, siblings Chris, Tyler, and Nicole Ross, Angela Liberty, and Corey Scott. She is also survived by her grandparents Priscilla and Gary Gillespie, Lucy and Jim Sorensen, Frank Hall Jr., Sandy Ross, and Paul and Merle Ross. In

addition, she is survived by her husband Justin Bishop, and step-son Sean Bishop, along with many other loving family members. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Make a Wish Foundation of Maine, Yawkey Family Inn, and Boston Children’s Hospital.
