Poland - David W. Merrill, age 67, died May 1, 2023 after a long battle with chronic
illness. David was the fifth son born to Carleton L. and Elaine F. (Tibbets) Merrill, of
Durham, on May 10, 1955. He was educated in Durham and graduated from Brunswick
High School. He worked as a maintenance mechanic at International Paper in Auburn
for 37 years.
David was an avid sportsman in his younger years and particularly loved deep sea
fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and bowling. He loved spending time with his
children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine Thompson, two children, Gregory Merrill and wife
Margaret, daughter Christina Vachon, step-daughter Rebecca Henderson, grandchildren,
Destiny Merrill, Braydon Merrill, Breann Guimond, Joey Vachon, Katie Vachon, Joshua
White, William Smart and great-granddaughter Hayden Guimond. He is also survived
by brothers Richard and Peter Merrill and a sister Karen Herrick, all of their spouses and
many nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his parents, brothers Brian and Stephen Merrill and sister
Kathryn Rundstrom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Androscoggin Home Healthcare and
Hospice in Lewiston, ME. The Celebration of Life will be June 24, 2023 from 1 to 5 pm at the Minot United Methodist Church. There will be a private burial in Lower Corner Cemetery in New
Gloucester.
