Diana Oddi Obituary

Diana Lynn Butler Oddi, 67, of Gray, Maine passed away after a sudden illness on October 5,
2022. Diana was born in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Walter Edgar Butler and Lillian
Frances Bernier. She grew up in Farmingdale, Maine, and later moved to Freeport, Maine, where
she graduated from Freeport High School in 1973. There, a member of the High School’s
marching band, where she played in President Nixon’s inaugural parade. Diana then attended
Andover College, where she received her associate degree in accounting, and met her husband, Mark.
 
Diana initially worked as an accountant for a CPA, until her daughter Gianna was born. After
the birth of her daughter, she opened a daycare, where she became a mother figure to many
children, including many of Gianna’s friends throughout the years. Her last job was an
emergency 911 dispatcher for the Town of Gray.
 
Diana married her husband Mark Andrew Oddi in 1981, and the two could be frequently found
on the dance floor. She was a funny, witty, and head-strong woman, who could be found every
Sunday yelling at the tv in support of the New England Patriots. She was a girl scout, and later
became the girl scout leader of her daughter’s girl scout troop along with her husband. She
enjoyed camping with her family, and playing board games, especially in her family’s annual
cribbage tournament, even though one year she took home the skunk tale.
 
Diana was predeceased by her parents, and brother Brian Butler, along with her stepmother
Cecile Butler. She is survived by her husband of 41 years Mark Andrew Oddi of Gray, Maine,
her daughter, who was her pride and joy, Gianna Nicole Oddi, of Laurel, Maryland, her sister
Bonnie Rollins and her husband Alfred of Lisbon, Maine, her sister Donna Henderson, of
Virginia Beach, Virginia, her brother Barry Butler of Freeport, Maine, her brother Dr. Michael
Butler and his partner Jacinda Diplacido of Erie, Pennsylvania, her brother in-law Peter Oddi of
Barnstead, New Hampshire, and her brother in-law Paul Oddi of Windham, Maine. 
 
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Wayne Henderson, Deanna Churchill, Walter
Henderson, Audrey Butler, Celia Butler, Christopher Butler, Samantha Mulholland, Anthony 
Oddi, Donata Oddi, and Amanda Conant. Additionally, she is survived by her great-nieces and
great-nephews, Kayla Bulleman, Cody Henderson, Chance Henderson, Cassidy Bulleman,
Cassidy Mulholland, Hudson Mulholland, Ariella Kelsen, Cecelia Oddi, Jack Oddi, and Apollo
Oddi. Finally, she is survived by her great-great niece Payten Bulleman-Nevells, and many
cousins.
 
Visiting hours will be held on October 14, 2022, at 5:00PM, with a service to follow at 7:00PM,
at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Gray, Maine.
