Diane Inga Hunnewell Langlois
Diane Langlois passed away at CMMC hospital on May 22, 2022. She was born in Gray,
Maine on April 28, 1949, the daughter of Frederick Hunnewell Sr. and Irene Ericksen
Hunnewell. Diane was a graduate of GNG High School, class of 1967. In 1966 while
still in High School, Diane wanted to start Santa visiting New Gloucester on Christmas
Eve. With the help of her parents, Harvey Hodgeman and many others, the New
Gloucester Christmas Eve Santa sleigh visitation started. She continued with this for
many years. She enjoyed the excitement of the kids and as the years went by, these kids
grew up and then it was their children all excited to see Santa. About 20 years later, the
Amvets presented Diane a plaque for all her hard work and dedication.
She worked at Pineland Hospital as switchboard operator and also in the personnel
department for many years. Diane later worked for Cape Shore Crafts. She was a
devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend
to all. She was very creative and artistic. She loved working in her flower and vegetable
gardens, but most of all she loved her family. She was generous and loving to all.
Diane is survived by her son, Brent Langlois; daughter, Michelle Hutchings and her
husband Bill; grandchildren, Noelle Libby and her husband Derek; Jessica Davis and her
husband Wess; Mason Hutchings; and great grandchildren; Oliver, Milo, Simon, Calvin,
and Sullivan. She is also survived by her brother, John Hunnewell and his wife Anna;
and sister, Rhonda Perkins and her husband Brad; and sister-in-law, Sandy Hunnewell;
and nephews, Colby, Ashley, Frederick, and nieces, Samantha and Shana.
She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Irene; brother, Frederick Jr.; nephew,
Nicholas: infant sister, Samantha; and son-in-law, Scott Poehler.
Diane will be missed dearly oy all her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, please
help out the New Gloucester Christmas Eve Santa oy donating to the "New Gloucester
Fund". At Diane's request there will not be a funeral but rather a Celebration of Life at a
later date.
