Donna Gagnon Obituary

THE GRAVESIDE SERVICE HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY DECEMBER 4, 2021 in LOWER GLOUCESTER CEMETERY at NOON.

Donna Mae Gagnon, 74, of New Gloucester, Maine passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in York, Pennsylvania on November 2, 1947 to Donald and Maretta Strong. Donna was educated in York schools, graduating in 1965, from Northeastern High School.

In her years in Pennsylvania, she was an avid bowler competing in weekly leagues.

On November 16, 1980, she married Henry (Hank) Gagnon in Pleasureville, PA. In 1983, they moved to New Gloucester, Maine with their family. For over 40 years, New Gloucester had been Donna’s home.

While in Maine she continued her education, working in the medical field for over 25 years, retiring in 2016.  During these years she made many positive, professional friendships working in offices in Portland and Lewiston, Maine.

Donna loved her time with family, and loved her time baking cookies and playing with her grandchildren.  At home, she also was an avid reader, gardener and owner of many beloved dogs.  Many of Donna’s happiest days were spent with Hank and family at the family camp on Brettuns Pond with boat rides, cribbage, cookouts, and sunsets.

Donna was predeceased by her parents Donald and Maretta Strong, of Mt. Wolf, PA.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years Henry of New Gloucester; a daughter, Penny Leonard and her children Dustin and Dillan of Auburn; son James Bear, wife Shawna, and their son Caleb of Poland; son Douglas Bear and wife Kristina and their children Trevor and Dylan Staton, and Kayla Bear of Auburn; and son William Gagnon with his children Cole and Mackenzie of Hanover, PA, and 12 great-grandchildren.
