New Gloucester Maine, Douglas Conrad Brown,79, passed away at home September 7 th , 2022,
after a long fight with cancer. Doug was born in Ludlow, MA on April 8,1943 to Winston J. Brown
and Jeanette R. Brown (St Onge). He moved to Maine when he was 2 years old, a Mainer to the
core.
Doug graduated from New Gloucester High School in 1962 before joining the United States Air
Force where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware.
Douglas received an Air Force Good Conduct Medal and Longevity Service Award for his
service. Upon returning from his military service, he worked for the Job Core in Poland Springs,

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) until his retirement.
Doug was an active member of the American Legion and proud to be the 53 rd member of the
Eagles Club (FOE).
Doug or “Bumpa”, as his grandsons called him, loved his annual summer camping vacation with
his daughters, son in law and grandsons. Those trips always included canoeing on the Saco
River, the races at Oxford Plains, frozen custard, fishing, and many fireside stories. He enjoyed
being a handyman and tree “expert” to his many friends and family. He was often sought out by
his lake neighbors and was always willing to give a lending hand. Doug often spoke fondly of
his hunting, fishing, and camping trips ‘up north’ with his close friends. In his down time, he
enjoyed teaching and playing cribbage with his friends and family.
Doug is survived by two daughters, Beth Marie Brown of Wrentham, MA, Rhonda Lynn Irving
and her husband Richard of Coventry, RI, two grandsons, Kyle Irving of Westerly, RI and Craig
Irving and his wife Cassondra Richards of Narragansett, RI. Besides his children and
grandchildren, Doug is survived by Pauline St Pierre, his long term girlfriend and two brothers,
Alan Brown and his wife Susan of Gray, and Thomas Brown and his wife Elizabeth (Betty)
Brown of New Gloucester, who gave Doug much comfort in his last day. He also has several
nieces and nephews and cousins, living throughout New England whom he adored.
Doug is predeceased by his parents and two brothers Kenneth Brown and Spencer Brown.
As was often heard on the camping trips and over many cribbage games……
”Game Over Bumpa”!
