Gregory B Smith Obituary:
On September 18th loving son and brother passed away in his home in Phoenix, AZ at the age of
60 from cancer related complications.
Greg was born on July 8th, 1962 in Bridgeport CT to Bob and Carole Smith.
Greg grew up in Gray, ME and was a member of the G-NG graduating class of 1980. At an
early age he had a love for music and enjoyed skiing; an activity he relished with his family and
friends. His passion for music led him to the Boston scene where he attended Northeastern
University to pursue a degree and play drums. As an accomplished drummer he was recruited to
play in many talented bands that toured throughout New England.
At Northeastern he met and fell in love with Dawn Zrebiec. While still living in Boston, they
married on August 16th, 1986. With entrepreneurial spirits, they moved to Nashville, TN and
opened a highly regarded café that catered to the music scene.
Upon Dawns untimely passing in August of 2003, Greg moved to Phoenix AZ to pursue a career
in Finance, and later worked as a Senior Housing Executive.
Greg was adored by his friends and will be missed for his good nature, kind soul, and smile that
would light up any room. He continued to beat to the sound of his own drum right up to the end.
Greg was preceded in death by his wife Dawn. He is survived by his parents Bob and Carole, 2
brothers; David and Stephen, 2 sister-in-law’s; Jennifer and Jacquelyn, and 4 nephews; Hunter,
Connor, Austin and Brett.
The family is planning a small celebration of life at a Spring Meadow Banquet Center October 23, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers and donations, please continue to share your fond memories to keep Greg’s spirit alive and pay it forward whenever possible.
