Gretchen Abigail Pelletier, 17, of Windham, Maine passed away suddenly at home on June 5th surrounded by her family. She was born March 28, 2001 in Portland. Gretchen is survived by her parents, Mark and Fleda Pelletier and sister, Grace of Windham; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Charlotte Colby, of Cumberland, ME; paternal grandparents, Leo and Rita Pelletier of Daigle, ME; uncles and aunts Thomas and Kathryn Colby of Cumberland, ME, Adam and Denise Slazas of Stockton Springs ,ME, Bill and Terri Pelletier of Farmingdale, ME, Chris and Laura Davis of Windham, ME, Stacy and Jill Kelly of Fort Kent, ME; cousins Simone and Lucas Colby, Lillian and Christian Slazas, Aimee, Michelle and Nicole Pelletier, Zachary, Emma and Ally Davis, John Kelly and Vanessa Pelletier and their children Kylie and Tylor, and Jacob Kelly and his son Avery; and many friends.
Gretchen was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and cousin and spent as much time with family as possible - playing, laughing, swimming, baking, telling wonderful stories, and recounting her favorite movies and books. She was a most thoughtful gift-giver and loved to impart her sense of humor on everyone. Just like a princess in the fairy tales she loved, Gretchen adored animals and treated them with gentle kindness. She had a special connection with wolves and cats - especially her beloved cat, Bella.
Gretchen was a student of Gray-New Gloucester High School and Windham High School where she enjoyed and developed great talent in acting, singing, literature, drawing, and learning sign language. As a loyal friend, Gretchen always saw the good in everyone and was selfless and kind. She loved children and expressed her interest in becoming a teacher.
Those whose lives Gretchen touched will remember her beautiful smile, warm, brown eyes, ever-changing hair styles and colors, angelic singing voice, passion for Japanese anime and all things Disney, voracious reading, love of ketchup, and the animated way in which she spoke with her hands.
Friends may visit the family at Wilson's Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Rd., Gray, ME on 6/16/2018 at 3:00pm. A service will be held from 5:00pm to 6:00pm with a celebration of life to follow.
