Jaime Jimino Obituary

AUBURN – Jaime Allen Jimino, 48, passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from accidental carbon dioxide poisoning resulting from a tiny crack in a propane heater. He experienced no pain.

Jaime, who occasionally liked to be called “James,” was born on a Saturday afternoon, April 2, 1977, in

Brunswick to Philip D. Jimino of Maine and Kathy Karnes Wolf of Florida.

Growing up in Durham, Jaime never turned down an opportunity to be outdoors. He loved exploring the woods with his sister, Sherri, where their imaginations ran wild, and spending hours playing Star Wars atop the town’s winter sand pile. As an adult, he became a skilled outdoorsman who loved bass fishing, hiking, and camping, even leading a nighttime orienteering tour in the Florida Everglades.

Jaime attended Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida and later graduated from Yarmouth High School in Maine with the Class of 1996. He went on to attend Broward State College, where he studied pre-veterinary medicine and geology. During that time, he worked for two years as an accredited dog trainer at PetSmart and was honored as Employee of the Month.

He also volunteered at Horses and the Handicapped of South Florida, Inc. in Coconut Creek, where he supported therapeutic horsemanship programs that brought strength and confidence to individuals with special needs. He enjoyed riding Western and took great pride in caring for his own horse. A true animal lover, he opened his heart and home to rescued dogs, cats, and several species of reptiles, always showing a gentle spirit and finding joy in giving animals safety, comfort, and a second chance.

Jaime later chose to pursue a different career path and enrolled in the ABCI Electrical Apprenticeship Course at Atlantic Technical Center in Coconut Creek, Florida, beginning his career in the electrical trade.

A skilled tradesman, Jaime built his career working in construction and the maintenance and repair of homes and commercial properties. Whether handling electrical work, carpentry, or concrete projects, he took pride in doing the job right and ensuring everything was safe and dependable. As Assistant Supervisor for a two-year commercial project at the Veterans Hospital in West Palm Beach, he demonstrated leadership, organization, and a deep sense of responsibility.

In 2012, he returned to Maine and settled in the Portland and Lewiston-Auburn areas, where he continued his work as an electrician, bringing the same dedication and craftsmanship that had defined his career in Florida.

After a personal loss, Jaime encountered a period of hardship. He faced that time with independence and determination, remaining connected to his family while choosing to navigate life on his own terms.

He is lovingly survived by his father, Philip D. Jimino, of Maine, and his mother, Kathy Karnes Wolf of Florida. He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Sherri M. Lemon, and her husband, Chris, along with their son, Jake, all of Florida, who brought him great joy.

He is further survived by his paternal grandparents, Phyllis and Alphonso Jimino; his half-brother, Philip Jimino and his wife, Amanda; Jerry Jimino and his half-sister, Jennifer L. Porter and her husband, Earle. He will also be dearly missed by his uncles and aunts of Maine — David Jimino; Michael Jimino and his wife, Maryanne; Bridget Jimino; and Kevin M. Karnes and his wife, Susan — as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherished him.

Jaime was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Margaret and Hilmon Karnes; his stepmother, Patricia L. Jimino; his aunt, Barbara Jimino; and his cousin, Joseph Jimino, and is now reunited with them in peace.

While his departure came sooner than expected, those who knew him were deeply touched by his remarkably kind soul. He had a quiet generosity about him — the kind that showed up in steady support, thoughtful words, and a willingness to help without being asked. His warmth, compassion, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

There will be no funeral or memorial service. Those wishing to honor him are encouraged to carry forward acts of kindness and hard work — just the way he would have wanted.
