Johnny Holmes Obituary

In Loving Memory of …Johnny Michael Holmes

                                           August 10th 1979- April 5th 2020 (age 40)

Gray- Johnny Michael Holmes passed on to a better place, with his father, John Holmes and his Pastor, Darwin Vail, by his side, peacefully, at Maine Medical Center.

Johnny was born August 10th 1979 in Lewiston, Maine to John and Charlene Holmes of Gray, Maine.  Johnny was well known and well liked by everyone.  He was the kind of person who didn’t hesitate to help a fellow friend or a stranger in need.  He would always say “pay it forward”.  Johnny was a very hard working man.  He was a Jack of all trades who enjoyed excavation the most.  He also loved working with his brothers, Josh and Rick, as well as their father, John, in their family business J.M.Holmes Excavation.  In his younger years he truly enjoyed his time working alongside his brother Josh, for their uncle, Tim Brown, cultivating blueberries in Maine and New Hampshire.

Even though Johnny loved working, his number one love in life was raising his three sons, Johnny, Jamison and Jaden, alongside his high school sweetheart, Jamie Holmes (Vickerson).  He enjoyed doing different activities with them such as, taking them on the Casco Bay Ferry, staying overnight in hotels, go-karting, hiking, camping, taking them to work with him and teaching them to run equipment.

In his younger years Johnny liked hunting, snowmobiling and skiing with his family as well as travelling to South Paris to visit his sister, Carolyn.  He also enjoyed being with his best friend and brother Josh and Steve Robinson, fixing beat up vehicles and turning them into all terrain vehicles, and giving his mother, (Charlene) a run for her money.  Back in the day his main group of friends included…brother Josh, sweetheart Jamie, Steve Robinson, Ralph Lamb, Ryan Leighton, Alan Boyd, Josh Locke, Josh Francis, Steve Vickerson, Heath Tardiff and many more.  Johnny had so many crazy fun memories with this group.  He had fun throwing house and pit parties, dirt biking, skeet shooting, camping and skiing.  As he got older he loved being with his family, playing with his nieces and nephews, hanging out at the Hotham’s Saw Mill on a Friday night, swimming and playing with his new toy, a John Deere Track Steer, he called  (Skittles).

Sadly he left behind his father, John, and mother, Charlene.  His sons, Johnny Junior, Jamison and Jaden.  His high school sweetheart, Jamie.  His brothers, Richard (Vicky), Joshua (Jami-Lyn).  Sister, Carolyn (Matt).  Nieces and Nephews, Chelsea, Abigail, Austin, Jonathan, Amanda, Amber, Alex, Ava and Anna.
