Cumberland — Joseph E. Jones III, 64, passed away on Saturday, November 21,
He leaves his daughter Crystal, brother Clint, mother Simone, nephew Dustin
Vining and many close friends. He is predeceased by his brother George and
father Joseph E. Jones II.
Born on April 7, 1956 and raised in Cumberland, Joe attended school there and
was on the Greely High School swim team. His specialty was the 50-yard freestyle.
He grew up working with his dad and uncle on lobster boats and digging for clams
and worms. He loved to be on the water more than anything.
Joe worked delivering and repairing appliances for more then 30 years. He could
fix anything and was extremely creative. He was a genius at building tree houses,
fire pits, elaborate gardens, sledding trails, chicken coops, and many other things.
If you knew him, he probably offered you advice on how to make something
better or easier. He loved to cook, drink a very cold Budweiser, and spend time
with his daughter and friends. He was a great storyteller who could make anyone
laugh. Joe had a way of connecting with everyone, and he had a certain sparkle in
his big blue eyes when he spoke. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew
A huge thank you to Hospice of Southern Maine, Northern Light Oncology,
Southern Maine Radiation and the staff at Mercy and Maine Medical Center.
Per Joe’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
