Gray – Joseph Francis Wood of Gray passed unexpectedly on July 3, 2019 at age 70

 

Joseph was born in Boston, MA on Oct. 21, 1948 to Earl and Mildred (DeLuca) Wood. He was the youngest of five children.

 

He enlisted in the Army in 1969 and served with the Ninth Infantry Division.  He was then sent to Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart.

 

Joseph worked in the Automotive Industry for most of his life. He always enjoyed fixing things even if they weren’t broken. He loved his family, sports and being outdoors. Some of his favorite times were his summer golfing weekends with his godson and nephews. Most of all his life revolved around his three grandsons and finding/building new things with them.

 

Joseph is survived by his daughters Janelle Senence and Tanya Wood. His grandchildren Jaden Goodwin, Dylan Senence, Chase Senence and Jaxon Senence. His siblings Richard Wood, Joyce McCormick, Barbara Bailey and Ronald (Butch) Wood. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephew and cousins.

 

He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Mildred (DeLuca) Wood.

 

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday July 18th from 5pm – 8pm at Wilson Funeral Home 24 Shaker Road, Gray. A Committal Ceremony with Military Honors will be held 1p.m.July 19th at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery 83 Stanley Road, Springvale.
