Judy Vickerson Obituary

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved mom/grandmother, Judy Vickerson,
after losing her battle with cancer. She was 74. Born in Portland, Maine in 1947, the eldest daughter of
Alfred and Doris (Kimball) Taylor, she grew up in Portland and Windham, Maine, attending local schools.
After getting married in 1965, her life was shattered when contacting Guillain-Barré Syndrome in 1968.
Left disabled as a result, she was forced to live with and be cared for by her loving family for the
remainder of her life, most of that time spent in New Gloucester, Maine. She loved caring for her Maine
Coon Cat for nearly 20 years and collecting bells from all over the world – having nearly 700 at one
point. After the passing of her mother and stepfather and unable to live on her own, she entered into
long-term care facilities in 2007. In 2011, she moved to Texas, to be close to her family, that made the
same move in 2010.
She was preceded by her parents, and her only sister, Janice Bickford in 2002.
She is survived by her son Paul and his husband Jim of Arlington, Texas, three grandchildren, Jennifer
and her wife Lindsey of Pullman, Washington, Joshua of New York City, Jeremy and his fiancé Kelsey
Fields of Irving, Texas, two great-grandchildren, Ruby Rae of El Paso, Texas and Henry Joshua of Pullman,
Washington, plus nieces, nephews, and three step-grandchildren.
At her request, there will be no funeral, only a brief graveside service at a later date. She will be
returned to Maine for internment next to her mother in Hill Cemetery, New Gloucester, Maine.
