Karen l. (Whitney) Austin, 63, passed away on November 22, 2023 in her sleep at home in South Paris.
She was born in Portland on July 12, 1960 to Clarence and Lorraine {Huard) Whitney. She grew up in Gray with her brother and sisters.
She was on the girls basketball team in junior high and high school. She graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 1979.
She worked as a waitress in the area for many years and later worked as a receptionist for a Prudential Insurance agent in Dry Mills, until having to retire due to illness.
Karen married her husband, Warren Austin, on May 19, 2001. They have enjoyed many years together while watching their families grow. They especially enjoyed family outings and cookouts around the pool with their kids and grandkids.
Karen loved her children and grandchildren so much and was so proud of them. Many believe that's what kept her going so long.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Austin, her brother; Todd Whitney (Lori), her sisters; Diane Petersen {Brian). Melissa McAultife (Terry), Tammy Foster (Lauren), her sons; Michael Peterson (Jessica), and Mark Kimball Jr. , stepdaughter; Klarissa Parsons and stepson; William Austin. She is also survived by grandchildren; Cody Peterson (Haley), Abigail Peterson, Haylee Peterson, and Bryden Kimball (whom she help raise}, and 2 step grandchildren. She was also survived by two nieces and four nephews.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Lorraine Whitney and her sister, Lorrie Jamieson.
There will be a celebration of life at a held December 8, 2023 for 6 to 10pm. at the VFW, 58 E Main St, South Paris, ME 04281
