Karl Hethcoat Obituary
Karl Steven Hethcoat, age 62 of Gray died on December 22, 2022 peacefully in his sleep. Karl
was born on July 28, 1960 to Richard and Joan (Fortier) Hethcoat at Osteopathic Hospital in
Portland, Maine. He attended Greely High School in Cumberland and went on to drive truck for
many years. Karl was currently working for Anderson Landscaping of North Yarmouth, driving
dump truck. Karl was married for eighteen years to Zoe-Ann Ryder with whom he had two
children; a son Zachery Hethcoat and a daughter Karla (Hethcoat) Austin. Karla has two sons,
Stevie and Drayke. Karl enjoyed many years of Racing at Oxford Plains Speedway. He loved
hunting, fishing, playing darts, and spending time with friends at the Eagles Club 4131 in New
Gloucester and the American Legion Post 86 in Gray. Karl was a kind, social man with far too
many friends to list.
Karl was predeceased by his father Richard Hethcoat and his mother Joan (Fortier) Hethcoat.
Karl is survived by his son, Zachery Hethcoat and his daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Zack
Austin, two grandsons, Stevie and Drayke. His brother Scott Hethcoat and fiance Cathy, a
brother and sister-in-law David and Libby Hethcoat, sister and brother-in-law Margaret and
George Downes, sister and brother-in-law Melinda and Andy Hethcoat-parke. His nephews and
their families; Jacob and Brandon Hethcoat, Nicholas Downes, Anthony and Michael Hethcoat,
Ben, Levi and Jesse Tinker.
A celebration of Life for Karl will be held at the American Legion Post 86 in Gray on January 21,
2023 at 1 pm. Those who wish to remember Karl in a special way may make gifts in support of
