Kathryn “Kathy” Blake Wing, 81, of Raymond, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.
Born in Gray, Maine, on March 5, 1944, Kathy was the daughter of Harold Eugene and Barbara (Askey) Blake. She held her parents and grandmother, Villa Askey especially close to her heart. She attended schools in both Gray and Florida, graduating from The Pennell Institute in 1962.
Kathy loved her family above all else. She adored her three sons, but it was her grandchildren who truly stole her heart. In 1996, she welcomed her first grandchild—and finally got her girl—Taiylor. She was later blessed with more grandchildren: Michael, Andrew, Alex, Heather and Jacob. Later in life she proudly gained the title of Great Gramma to Harper, Elaiyna and Wyiatt.
Kathy worked hard her entire life to support and raise her boys. Over the years, she worked in restaurants, cleaned homes and commercial properties, and spent time employed at UNUM. Most recently, she worked alongside her son and daughter-in-law at The Beacon where she made an impression to all the employees as they also referred to her as “Grammy”. She made friends everywhere she went.
She enjoyed watching NASCAR races, never missed an episode of her favorite soap, The Young and the Restless, and loved helping her good friend Tammy with crafts. Kathy was a talented cook, known especially for her incredible meatballs—though no one will ever quite replicate them, as she never measured a thing.
Kathy was one of her family’s biggest cheerleaders, attending countless games to watch her three sons play sports. Later, she proudly supported her grandsons from the stands, earning the affectionate nickname “Bob’s Gram” from his baseball teammates and their siblings.
She is predeceased by her grandmother, parents, her sister, Amy and her brother, Bob.
She is survived by her children Anthony (Kathi) of Wellington, Robert (Pam) of Raymond, and Todd of Oxford; her sister, Cindy of Norway; her beloved grandchildren; and her best friend, Shirley Wilkinson of Gray, whom she cherished dearly. She will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her unwavering love for her family.
In her final days, Kathy was blessed to have Heidi by her side. Heidi’s presence and gentle care brought great comfort to Kathy and to all of us who loved her.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at Wilson’s funeral home in Gray Tuesday August 19 from 5pm to 8pm.
