Keith William MacDonald
November 16, 1947 - March 18, 2026
Keith MacDonald (Killer Keith) passed away at home unexpectedly on March 18, 2026.
He was born and raised in Gray, Maine, graduating from Gray New Gloucester High School in 1966. After high school he enlisted in the Army where he served his country honorably as a diesel and radar mechanic in Germany.
Following his military service, Keith worked for twenty years as a brick mason with outstanding skill. He used his strength and artistic eye to meticulously lay stone and brick with remarkable precision.
In the early 1990s, he embarked on a second career working for L.L. Bean as the top shooting instructor for their Outdoor Discovery program, a position he enjoyed for over two decades.
Anyone who knew Keith MacDonald understood his life-long passion for hunting, a pursuit that took him all over the United States and Newfoundland. When he was no longer bushwhacking his way through the forest you could find him riding the logging roads in the great northern woods of Maine looking for deer with George Maschino.
Keith was truly an extraordinary marksman. He could hit the center of a bull’s-eye from enormous distances with a gun or split an arrow in half Robin Hood style with a bow. Competition skeet shooting was another hobby he enjoyed with Donny Leavitt, George Maschino, the Copp clan and a few other good friends. Many trophies were won, and much laughter and camaraderie was shared among these old friends who spent so many years together.
Keith had a sharp wit and could make everyone laugh, whether it was a true story about his hunting exploits or just a classic Maine tall-tale for the sake of amusement, which he often made up on the spot. His laughter will be sorely missed, but his stories will live on forever through his family and many friends.
When he wasn’t in the woods you could find him sitting right next to his beautiful wife, Terry, whom he called “the love of his life”. The relationship they shared has been a genuine inspiration to many and heart warming to witness.
Keith was predeceased by his parents Richard and Marion MacDonald. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Terry MacDonald, their daughter Brandy Bauer and her husband Chris Bauer. He is also survived by his daughters with first wife Rebekah (Toody) MacDonald, Rosalie Moyes and husband Greg Moyes, Shantel MacDonald, his sister Bonnie Leavitt and husband David Leavitt, brothers Steven MacDonald and wife Jackie MacDonald, Ted MacDonald and wife Linda MacDonald, Daniel MacDonald and wife Sharon MacDonald, grandchildren Katherine Darling, Allison Backiel, Orrin Moyes and Dexter Moyes, his mother in-law Granny, sister-in-law Linda Routhier and husband Scott Routhier, brother-in-law Rob Shreves and wife Julie Shreves, close friends Donny Leavitt and wife Laura Leavitt, George Maschino and wife Angie Mashino and many more cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
