Kenneth J. Plourde Jr (1977 - 2025)
Kenneth (Kenny) Plourde, 47, of Raymond, Maine, died early Thursday morning,
February 20, 2025 of an apparent heart attack, while at work.
Kenny was born in Portland on May 1, 1977, to Kenneth J. Plourde of Biddeford, Maine
and Frances L. Plourde of Portland, Maine. Kenny was a student in the Biddeford
School System, as a member of the class of 1996. He enjoyed being in the school
band where he played the saxophone in the concert, jazz, and marching bands.
Kenny held multiple jobs over the years in the food service industry. His first job was at
Rapid Rays where he worked throughout High School. He bounced around working in
multiple kitchens over the years which fueled his love for cooking. In 2012 he landed in
his happy place when he finally became a long-haul truck driver working for multiple
companies across the United States. On his many trips his cat Shadow accompanied
him, she logged over three million miles on the road as his co-pilot. They were later
joined by Luna, who logged a mere one million miles in her short career as a cross-
county cat. For the last year Kenny has been a day tripper working out of Auburn,
Maine, most recently for wonderful folks at Chapman Trucking.
Everyone who knew Kenny knew how much he loved trucks, cars, boats, trains - from
an early age, if it had a motor he was enamored by it. To say he was a collector of toys
is an understatement. He always wanted another project to tinker with, and
undoubtedly would rope good friend Jeremy into working on it with him.
Kenny loved to be on the water fishing with friends and family. When he wasn’t on the
water, he was in it. He was part fish, born with all but the gills; truly he was born with
feet big enough to be flippers.
Kenny will also be remembered for his sense of humor and limitless grace; twinkle toes
he was not. His friends remember him for being clumsy and accident prone, his goal
might have been to become a real-world bionic man, fully rebuilt from the inside out with
titanium. He handled it all in stride and with self-aware and mildly self-deprecating
humor. He was a true ham of a man that was happy to have you laugh at his expense if
you laughed with him.
Kenny will always be remembered for the way he lit up around a buffet. As a teen, he
nearly cried when was told to finish up after an hour at an all you can eat establishment,
“I was just getting started”. He was a foodie at heart, with a not always decerning
stomach, like the time he and the cat (Missy) ate four clay Christmas ornaments
thinking they were “cookies”, and his only critique was “they seemed a little salty”. He
never met a monster sandwich that he couldn’t conquer, a piece of meat he couldn’t grill
to perfection, and always enjoyed a Mountain Dew to wash it all down. So, if you enjoy
the Dew, please pop a top in honor of Kenny.
Kenny is survived by his parents, two sisters, his children: son Tyler Plourde (19),
daughter Erica Plourde (17), his maternal aunt, his paternal aunt, nieces, multiple
cousins, and his fur children. He is predeceased by all four grandparents and his
paternal uncle.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Kenny on what would have been his 48 th birthday,
May 1, 2025. The day will start at 11AM with a graveside memorial service for family
and close friends at Brooklawn Cemetery in Portland, Maine (Near the Jetport). From
1-3PM, there will be a reception open to everyone at the Elks Lodge in Saco, Maine.
Please RSVP to Megan Linscott by Thursday, April 17 th if you can attend via Facebook
