Lenora R. Conger, 72, of New Gloucester, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends after a long illness.
She was the daughter of Ernest and Marjorie Westleigh and was raised in the Bethel area with her large family of brothers and sisters.
Upon graduation from High School, Lynn went to nursing school and became a registered nurse. After nursing school, she joined the United States Air Force and attained the rank of First Lieutenant.
While in the Air Force, Lynn met her best friend and husband Kevin Conger, and they began an
incredible journey that lasted 47 years. Upon their separation from the Air Force, Lynn and Kevin drove back to Maine and began building their life together.
Lynn and Kevin settled in New Gloucester where they raised their two children Karen and Kevin. Lynn always said that they made clones of themselves as Karen followed in her footsteps and Kevin in his fathers. Lynn was so very proud of both of her children and their accomplishments.
Lynn dedicated her life to service. In addition to her service in the military and as a Registered Nurse, she also served the Town of New Gloucester as a Selectperson and served as the Chairperson of the Board as well as numerous years of service to her community. Lynn was also a member of the Eastern Star which she greatly enjoyed.
She founded and operated Pine Tree Home Health Care for the last 20 years. A business that she was
dedicated to and incredibly proud of.
Lynn had three grandchildren who she was so proud of, Matthew Conger, Hannah Gilles, and Alexis Gilles. They brought her joy, and she loved spending time with them.
Lynn was predeceased by her parents, Ernest, and Marjorie. As well as her sisters, Charlotte, Lorena, Bethany and her brothers, Raymond, Eugene, Dale and Trafton (Skip).
Lynn is survived by her husband Kevin Conger, her children Karen Gilles and her partner Brian, and Kevin Conger Jr. and his partner Deanna, her grandchildren Matthew, Hannah, and Alexis. Her sisters Roxanne Fields, Lydia Lavallee and husband Chuck, Heidi Mailman and her brothers Francis (Sam) Westleigh and wife Sally, Richard Westleigh and wife Linda, and Zane Westleigh. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless close friends.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone that was there to help Lynn and her family in the last days of her life including Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice.
A graveside ceremony will be announced at a later date.
Lynn will be greatly missed by her family and the community she served.
