Michael A. Morrell Sr., 66, passed away the morning of Monday, October 23rd at home surrounded by
friends and family after battling a long illness. He was born on July 7, 1957, the youngest of 5 children of
Calvin G. “Abe” and Grace L. (Greenlaw) Morrell. Mike was born and raised on the family dairy farm in
Windham and was an active 4-Her in his youth. He graduated from Windham High School in 1975 and
worked for Stanley Hall until starting at SD Warren in 1978 where he worked for 42 years. Over the
years, he continued his love of farming by raising replacement heifers with his brothers then starting a
herd of British White and Scotch Highland beef cattle and enjoyed almost 10 years bringing them to the
fairs after his children became 4-H members as well. He also shared a love of horses with his wife and
daughter, owning 5 horses and enjoyed gaming in horse shows as well as trail riding. He attended
Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School and became a Farrier for many years. Mike also loved spending
time upta camp in Eustis, walking in the woods with his son, studying his martial arts with both children
and spending time with friends, family and his grandchildren.
Mike was predeceased by his sister, Katherine Hawkes, and brother, Stephen Morrell. He is survived by
his wife, Helen (Cobb) Morrell; son Michael Morrell Jr and fiancé Stephanie Stultz; daughter Sara
Morrell-Stiles and husband Bill Stiles; granddaughters Cassidy Morrell and Aislin Stiles, step-grandson
Cole Stiles; brothers Calvin “Bub” Morrell Jr and wife Cheryl, Tim Morrell and wife Linda and many
nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Gray Village
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Southern Maine.
