Robert B. Connell Jr.

 

Robert B. Connell, Jr. 87, died Saturday, May 7, 2022, at his home in Gray, Maine. He was born January 27, 1935, in Thomaston, Maine, attended school in Warren, and graduated from Rockland High School. He enlisted in the Navy and served in the Korean War as a Torpedoman First Class from 1952 to 1956. He married his wife of 67 years, Janice Fickett Connell on June 15, 1954. They lived in Rockland, Owls Head, Waterville and Gray, Maine over their many years together. 

He was a Lineman for Central Maine Power for 25 years until 1983 when he became legally blind. He was member of the New Gloucester Bible Church and a lifetime member of the Presumpscot Masonic Lodge #70. He enjoyed woodworking, carving and making hunting knives. He also enjoyed traveling and he loved spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife; Janice Fickett Connell, his brother; Russell Connell & wife Gail, his son; Gary Connell and wife Melissa, his daughter; Pamela Connell Larochelle and husband David, his 4 grandchildren; Heather Connell Emery, Tracy Connell Nevells, Gregory Connell, Glenn Connell and their spouses. He also had 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his sons; Dennis & Eric, his father; Robert Sr., his mother; Rita and his brother; Richard. 

 A Graveside service will be held 1 pm Thursday in Gray Cemetery,
