Ronald Drown Obituary

Gray-Ronald J. Drown, 73, passed away at home with his family by his side, after a longtime illness. Ron was born in 1947 at the old Westbrook Hospital, son of late Lillian M. Nealey-Baglivo of Cornish, ME and Joseph Drown of Redston, N.H.

 

Ron served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service with the 25th Infantry Division at Cu-Chi, South Vietnam. Returning home he was employed at Megquire & Jones and General Electric in South Portland as a Welder. He then attended SMVTI Technical Institute where he obtained a degree in Culinary Arts. Thereafter, he worked at St. Joseph's College in Standish. Ron then became a Bus Driver for the Windham School Department. He was a member and President of the Windham-Gorham Rod and Gun Club.

 

Ron was a volunteer Fireman for 20 years at the South Windham Fire Department.  He was also dedicated to cooking the yearly lobster bakes. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the Great Northern Woods of Maine, and spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by his wife Janice L. Drown of 53 years. They were married on May 18, 1968. They had two daughters; Tammy Drown of Raymond with her children; Dustin and Hannah, and Jodi and Dave Brown with their children; Courtney and Ryan of Raymond. Sister; Sanda Drown of Gorham.  He was predeceased by his brother Wayne Drown and sister Gloria Drown. 

 

There will be a private Honorable Military Service held at 143 Blue Star Parkway, Civic Center Drive in Augusta. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 21st at the American Legion in Gray, Post 86, at 4p.m. for family and friends. Ron was a dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He will be sadly missed by all.
