Shirley Foster Obituary
Shirley Jeanette Foster, 89, died Thursday, February 13, 2020 at her home with her
family surrounding her. Shirley was born in South Portland, Maine on October 16, 1930.
She was the daughter of the late Oakley and Annie Maude (Ray) Bartlett. On July 20,
1951 she married Walter Foster.
Most of her adult life was devoted to being a wonderful mother. She also worked at the
Avon factory, sold Avon and volunteered at the Gift Shop at the Pineland Mental
Hospital. She loved to play bingo, go to the casino and make many different kinds of
crafts. She always looked forward to her Wednesday morning Fifty Forward group.
She is survived by her children Alan Foster of Florida, Sheryl Griffin of New Gloucester
and Debra Chase and husband Richard of Gray, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-
grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Walter, son Dwight Madden
Foster, sisters Jean Helver and Joan Quinlan.
Visiting hours will be at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Gray February 27 th from 5-8 PM.
