Hollis--Sonya Mae Hawthorne passed away peacefully at her home in Hollis on December 2, 2019 with her "family" by her side from heart failure. She was born on September 22, 1963 in Portland. She was the daughter of William and Barbara Stone who lived in New Gloucester. She is survived by her three brother's, Jimmy Hawthorne of New Gloucester, Arthur Hawthorne of Winthrop, and Brian Hawthorne of New Gloucester and also by her two sisters, Michelle Andrews of Livermore Falls and Trina DeMerchant of New Gloucester. She was predeceased by her sister Eleita Munroe of Windham. She also has two Step Brothers, Richard Stone of Enta and Robert Stone of New Gloucester. 
Sonya came from a big family and has Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews that loved her very much along with her brothers, sisters and parents.
Sonya attended the Gray-New Gloucester schools until she went to Special Education classes in Portland. 
Sonya enjoyed cooking, being with her pets, watching TV and being with her family and friends. 
Sonya's family would like to give a special thank you to Peggy Tardif and her amazing staff at "At Home Family Support" for being there, supporting and caring for Sonya for the last 24 years and being her second family. WE LOVE YOU SONYA! 
REST IN PEACE!
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, December 15th from 12 to 3 pm at Wilson's Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray. Memorial services will be held in the spring sometime.
