Steve Robert Massey

Steve Robert Massey, 64, of Litchfield, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Steve was born on June 10, 1961, to Robert and Joanne Massey of Lewiston. He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School. In 1980, Steve joined the United States Army, where he specialized in the infantry.

Throughout the years, Steve was employed by several construction companies, including Helms Brothers Construction and North East Construction. He was currently working at Tucci’s Construction alongside his best friend, Tony.

Steve’s greatest joy was being in nature, whether he was fishing, walking through the woods, or visiting the ocean. At home, he found peace in the simple things, especially feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his yard. He loved sports, watching football and baseball and enjoyed attending hockey games. Steve also cherished the time he spent helping his best friends, Tony Tucci and his wife Christine, plant and harvest their summer garden. He shared a special, inseparable bond with his "best bud," Trooper, a 4-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog whom he enjoyed dog-sitting. Steve touched many lives with his kindness and his innate desire to always offer a helping hand to anyone in need.

Steve leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Jessa (Grenier); two step-sons, Douglas of Oxford and Derek of Lewiston; and his daughter, Angel Goodell of North Adams, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his brothers, Scott Massey and his wife Kim of New Hampshire, Todd Massey and his wife Gaye of Sugar Land, Texas, and Troy Massey of Lewiston. Steve will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, two grandsons, and his best friends Tony Tucci and Herb Carver, among many others.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert Massey; his mother, Joanne Massey; and his younger sister, Nadine Massey.

A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held later this spring, with further details to follow.
