Tracey P. Valente, 63, of New Gloucester, Maine passed away on February 17th after a hard fought battle with breast cancer. Tracey was born on November 6, 1961. She grew up in Cumberland and graduated from Greely High School. She went on to college at St. Thomas University in Miami and became a teacher. Tracey loved working with children and brought out the best in each and every student she worked with. On September 22, 1990 she married Torry Valente of Cumberland who she met at the Seaman’s Club in the Old Port. They raised their three children, Taylor, Alicia and Maria, in New Gloucester where they have lived for over 25 years.
She spent countless hours on the stands and bleachers cheering for her three children – she was their biggest fan although many refs weren’t fans of hers. Tracey was known for her fierce competitive spirit. From the horseshoe pit to playing a card game at camp, she wasn’t afraid to let people know who was number one. Always the life of the party, she was known to start an impromptu karaoke session and make anyone feel like family. Spoiling her grandchildren was her favorite thing to do. Christmas shopping started in January and none of them ever left her home without a belly full of treats and lots of laughs.
She was predeceased by her parents Russell and Pauline Richardson.
She is survived by her husband Torry, son Taylor Valente (Sierra), and daughters Alicia Ciciarelli (Nick) and Maria Cullen (Cody) as well as seven beloved grandchildren, Alden, Parker, Kenna, Vinny, Mikey, Emmy and Lydie. She is also survived by her brothers Scott, Mark, and Jay and sisters Terry, Rae, Jody, and Bobbi-Jean.
