Gray, Maine - Timothy J. Barton, age 55, passed away on Sunday, February 26^th. Tim was born on May 7, 1961 to Jon and Jane (Pollard) Barton of Gray. Tim attended Gray schools and graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 1979.

Tim spent much of his early adult life working at his family’s Polaris dealership, Pleasure Power. It was there that he developed a love for motorsports, racing, and, most of all, NASCAR. His favorite driver was Jimmie Johnson, #48. Tim took his love of racing a step further by co-owning and working on race cars for many years with many different race teams at Oxford Plains Speedway. He garnered a reputation for his skills and strong work ethic, especially his impeccable attention to detail when polishing the cars. He was not only a jack of all trades, but also a master of them; any job given to him would not only be done right, but done well and with care.

Tim inherited his eye for details from his late father. Like father like son, they both were meticulous when it came to taking care of their cars and trucks. Tim could spend hours washing, waxing, and buffing his various vehicles over the years.

Tim is pre-deceased by his father Jon, and survived by his mother Jane of Gray, daughter Sarah and her husband Tim of Piermont, NH, and son Scott and his fiancée Britt of Gray. He is also survived by his brother Brian and his fiancée Tammy of Poland, his brother Craig and his wife Brenda of Gray, and his sister Kim (Barton) Hendry and her husband Stephen of Falmouth. He also had numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on March 7, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home in Gray. There will be a remembrance period at 7:30 pm to celebrate his life.
