Gray, Maine – Meredith E. (Kenney) Davis (74) lost her 7-year battle with breast cancer on February 2, 2017 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House after a short time in home hospice care.

Meredith, better known by her friends as Merry was born on August 6, 1942 to Wendell and Pearl Kenney of Gray. She lived her entire life in Gray. She graduated in 1960 from Pennell Institute where she met and married the love of her life, Frank Davis. They were married for 35 years until his passing.

She is pre-deceased by her mother Pearl, father Wendell and husband Frank and survived by her brother Marvin Kenney and wife Pat of Gray and her children, Wendy (Davis) Copp and husband Ron Jr. of Cumberland, Jeffrey Davis and wife Connie of Cumberland, and Vicki (Davis) Copp and husband Chris of Cumberland. She was very proud of her eight grandchildren, Jason, Joel, Caitlynn, Zachery, Ben, Breanna, Michaela, Jordynne, and their spouses, as well as two step-granddaughters Jacqueline and Lyndsay and their spouses, as well eight great-grandchildren and two more great-grandsons due later this year.

She was a caring and loving person who always put the needs of her family above of her own. She cared for her husband Frank for 9 years until his passing in 1995, and her father Wendell for 4 years until his passing at the age of 90. She also welcomed other family members into her home whom needed a place to stay.

Many knew her from the 26 years she worked as a town clerk in the Gray Town Office. Many may also have known her from the business she and her husband opened in 1972 called Franks Garage, which upon Franks passing she continued to operate for 15 years.

She enjoyed her time spent with family at her backyard pool and tiki bar during the summer and attending sporting events of her many grandchildren. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriot fan and rarely missed a game. Her cats, Trinket of 18 years and Sooty of 8 years were her pride and joy. We believe she may have loved them more than her kids.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9p.m. on February 9, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home in Gray. There will be a 7:30pm service to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Meredith Davis to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
